What Is Perimenopause and Its Impact on Women’s Health

What is Perimenopause? | Health in Motion

Perimenopause, also referred to as the menopause transition is when your body starts transitioning to menopause. During this transition, your ovaries begin producing less hormones, causing your menstrual cycle to become erratic or irregular. Progesterone is usually the first hormone that starts to decline during this time.  Perimenopause can begin in your 30’s and last around 15 years until you have gone a year without a cycle. Most women experience menopause between ages 40 and 58. The average age is 51.
